Great news for the Visitor Economy as Lincolnshire to be one of 13 stops on Tour England

Anglo-American ‘Connections’ project will drive Visitor Economy and generate more awareness about Lincolnshire as a tourist destination.

Tour England has been introduced to encourage the movement of visitors around England using a series of new, English-themed visitor experiences specifically targeted at American tourists.

Lincolnshire, along with 12 other UK destinations will develop tourism products in the lead up to 2020,; a year which marks the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower’s historic voyage from Plymouth to the New World.

Fionn Davenport, author of Lonely Planet and an award-winning travel journalist is the content creator for Tour England ‘US Connections’ project and will visit sites in Lincolnshire that appeal to the US inbound market. Fionn will explore all different parts of the city including Lincoln Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the county’s aviation links at International Bomber Command Centre, East Kirkby Aviation Heritage Centre and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

So, what does this mean for Greater Lincolnshire’s’ visitor economy?

With more tourists coming through the region to visit the experiences within the project, the industry will need more hands-on deck to cater for additional people. Employers within the retail and catering industry will see a surplus of visitors around the experience sites; but the locations themselves will need more information points, literature printed and tour guides to help our American visitors.
