But what exactly is a PR account executive?

A PR (public relations) account executive would work with a variety of clients to complete projects from press releases, social media and news articles. 

Am I the right person for this role?

You need to be able to wear different hats throughout the day- in the morning you may be managing a clients social media account, but by the afternoon you could be presenting at a difficult client meeting. So, the ability to multi-task and great organisational skills will really help you in the PR industry.

You will also be speaking to lots of different people too; the client, your colleagues, journalists, the local media… so a confidence and an outgoing nature will help you complete your projects to the highest standard.

What does my future look like in PR?

From running your own PR company to working free-lance and even branching out into Journalism; you will develop so many skills in PR that your CV will really help you in your career.

Do I need any qualifications or experience?

To be a PR account executive, you will need 2 years experience within the industry. So, if this role excites you, but you haven’t worked in the industry before, then contact local PR firms to gain some work experience. You may also need a degree or equivalent. And an interest and the ability to write well will also be key!
